Reaching out, touching hearts, serving Christ
Acre Gospel Mission is an evangelical faith mission from Northern Ireland. For almost ninety years God has used ordinary people to take the Gospel from one place to another, from the Amazon rainforest to Portugal and the Canary Islands.

Who we are
A faith mission, from Northern Ireland to the Amazon
Acre Gospel Mission has a rich history full of stories of people God has used to do marvellous things for Him.
From the first missionaries called to the heart of the Amazon rainforest in 1937, to the work in Portugal and the Canary Islands, Acre has never lost its humble roots, or its vision to be a faith mission, completely dependent on God to provide for every missionary’s need through His people.
The mission exists to glorify God by reaching people with the life-changing message of the Gospel.

Our story
It all began in 1937, deep in the Amazon
William and Margaret McComb and Mollie Harvey, challenged by the great spiritual needs of the people, went to the remote Acre region in north-west Brazil. They never meant to start a mission, but when the Second World War made it impossible to send money to individuals in Brazil, friends at home registered them as Acre Gospel Mission.
- 1937Pioneers reach the Acre region of Brazil
- 1946The McCombs return home; Mollie Harvey goes back to the Acre alone
- 1984Church planting begins in the Alentejo, Portugal
- 30+ yearsA Gospel witness in the Canary Islands
- TodayChurches in Brazil led by Brazilians, many supported by Acre
